“People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can’t find them, make them.”
― George Bernard Shaw

On this episode, I talk about the requirements for anxiety recovery. Does your anxiety just go away, or do you have to work at it? Well, consistent anxiety is a sign from your body that things need to change. What things? In this episode, I talk about just that. What do you need to sacrifice and introduce into your life that will get you to where you want to go? In other words, what is the best map forward?

  • The BIG starting step is to admit that your current functioning (way of being) is not working out. That you must take some sort of ACTION to seek solutions. This is your responsibility. Admitting this truth can be such an eye-opening moment for people. It was for me. That my dependencies on family, friends, substances, and safety was only making me weaker.
  • You MUST follow a structure. A program. To overcome the chaos and overwhelming situation you are in, you have to follow a guide. For me, finding someone who went through the SAME chaos (problem) as me, and overcame it, was HUGE. What did they do to solve it? Trust in the process and follow in the footsteps of the problem solver if you are lost. If you remain where you are, then you remain in the sinking ship.
  • You MUST learn to function when feeling unmotivated. Success is when you stick to your routines and rituals on days where you feel the most resistance. In the end, you don’t know how tough you really are (the amount you can bear) until you get to your threshold of tolerance. AVOIDING uncomfortable situations only make them grow in size and shrinks your competency.
  • You MUST incorporate empowering habits into your routine. You are in stress mode, so it is important to combat you’re physiology with practices that slow down the mind/body. Meditation, reading, breathing, nature, and positive influencers all have this powerful effect over your anxious mind. What you put in is what you will get out of it.
  • You MUST spend quality time with yourself. Anxiety sufferers are so out of tune with who they are. They’ve been in stress mode for so long that they lost touch with their surroundings and what it’s like to live their best self. Anxiety is their normal. Journaling is one of those tools where you can have a real TRUTHFUL dialogue with yourself. Are you really ok? How are you really feeling? Trapped emotions can have a doorway when you are willing to face the truth of those repressed emotions.
